We expanded our acquisition system and processes that we learned in California into the NW Indiana markets in early 2016. The cities we invest in border Illinois and are within 45 minutes from downtown Chicago.
We were particularly attracted to cities such as Hammond, Merrillville, and Griffith due to their low price points and strong demand from both tenants and buyers. Northwest Indiana offers much lower taxes and a business friendly environment compared to neighboring Cook County, IL. We have seen continued strong demand and price appreciation in Northwest Indiana.
